At Shield Health and Social Care we aim to provide a high standard of care, which is flexible to cater for individual care and social leisure needs for yourself or a loved one.

Our Domiciliary Care Service is registered with CQC – Care Quality Commission and with Leeds Local Authority LCC, Leeds City Council contracts team to enable us to provide a quality and safe service to the Leeds community.

We currently have in place a ECM – Electronic Call Monitoring system to keep all information safe, protected and within easy access for all support workers at the time of a care visit. This also allows us to manage staff rosters and client care visits on your request effectively from the office. Details on the system are in place to be provided at the time of any initial visits with service users and or supporting family.


At SHSC we expect all of our employees to be courteous and helpful and, at all times, they should:  

  • Be reliable and on time.
  • Always inform a service user of any changes to their care visits, with a telephone call or during a planned care visit.
  • Have clear identification which also includes wearing our recognisable tunic with the company logo.
  • Treat everyone equally, with respect and dignity.
  • Respect a person’s right to privacy and be discreet about their personal affairs.
  • Help everyone to express their wishes and make choices for themselves.
  • Acknowledge peoples personal beliefs, religion, culture, etc, and be able to communicate in the language of the person using the services where necessary.

Who can use the service?
Our home care services provide support for adults to enable them in maintaining their independence within their home environment for as long as possible. If you require assistance and support it is provided by Leeds Local Authority, Direct Payments or through self- funding (Private).

How much does the service cost?
The cost of the service will be provided following our initial assessment based on your personal care needs, support your required circumstances. We provide our services through the Local Authority (Leeds City Council), through Direct Payments or Privately through self funding. Who can complete a Referral Form?

Anyone who wishes to obtain our services either for themselves, friends or a loved one can complete a Referral Form. We also accept referrals from healthcare professionals.

Self-referral: An individual who wishes to make a referral for themselves.

Referral of a friend or loved one: A referral on behalf of a friend or loved one (Sibling, Parent, Grandparent) you can by simply clicking on the Referral Form button indicated below.

Professional Referral: A referral made by a Healthcare Professional such as a Social Worker or a GP.


Health and Welfare Service – Whether it is for your own piece of mind or for a loved one, we can regularly check in as frequently as you wish. We can keep families informed or they can contact us by post, telephone, or email.

Domestic Service

Domestic Care is a comprehensive service that helps you with all manner of day-to-day tasks, from doing the laundry to washing the pots and everything in between.

Dementia and Alzheimer’s Care Service – Dementia is a condition that is becoming more and more prevalent in todays society. Shield Health and Social Care can deliver extensive and expert support to not only your loved one with the condition but all family members who are affected by Dementia.



Convalescence Care Service – We can provide around-the-clock care, the goal is to make sure you yourself can recover in a relaxing and safe environment. This recovery could be from any illness, injury or operation that puts you into a position where you feel that help is required. Whatever the issue, the goal of this service is to get you back to a place where you can cope without support.

  • Care and Support Service – the occupation of attending to the physical needs of people who are disabled or otherwise unable to take care of themselves, including tasks such as bathing, management of bodily functions, and meal preparation and cooking.

Medication Service – We can help with a range of medication tasks. We can take full control of your medication needs or simply just remind you to take your medication. We can provide a routine medication collection service so that you never miss any important medication.



Mobility Support Service – Anyone who is living with reduced mobility and may need some assistance in completing day-to-day tasks on their own. Perhaps you’re using a wheelchair or remain in bed while you are recovering from a fall, illness, or you are living with a neurological or joint condition? Regardless of the circumstances, Shield Health and Social Care can provide support to you to regain as much mobility as possible while still remaining in your own home.

Respite Service – We can provide temporary cover whilst your regular carer/PA/family member is on holiday or away due to personal reasons. We can provide ‘Respite Care’ giving you and your primary carer a break.

Shopping & Chaperoned Service – We can order, collect, or take you shopping. You can provide us with a list, or we can assist and support you in creating one. If you need someone to attend any of your appointments with you, our chaperoned service does just that. Supporting individuals to their appointments, social and family events, or even on a short break away.
